Our Latest Reviews for Rue Dauphine
The photographs do not lie: this is an incredible apartment in an incredible location: an easy walk to the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Seine, and the shops and cafes of St. Germain de Pres.
A wonderful bakery/deli is just across the way. There is easy access to the Metro. The Rue Dauphine, where the apartment is located, is a continuation of the Pont Neuf to the Ile de la Cite. You have a private code that opens large wooden doors on the street and lets you into a private, quiet, cobbled courtyard. Despite being in the center of the action, we heard no noise at night. The beds were very comfortable; the website does not mention that the twin beds in the bedroom are adjustable with remote controls (my children insisted that I put that in). The vaulted cellar: amazing! It is clean and fresh, with every convenience you could possible need, including candles and matches to enhance the historic drama of the cellar. Yet you are sitting surrounded by 500-year-old masonry, sipping some Cotes-du-Rhone and nibbling on your Brie and baguette, and wondering what interesting things this cellar has seen during the past half millenium. The bathroom is huge by French standards, beautifully decorated, with everything new except, once again, the arched ceilings and the ancient masonry. Here again, there are candles in lanterns to make your bathing experience more relaxing. Your hosts will explain all the appliances, the television, where to put your garbage, etc., and are charming and accessible if there should be any problem (which there wasn't). I hope very much to return to Paris soon and will definitely stay at the Rue Dauphine again. Don't miss it!
